Judith A. Petersen, age 83, of Holstein, passed away on Monday, June 24, 2024 at the Good Samaritan Society of Holstein. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, September 28, 2024 at 10:00 AM the Grandview Cemetery of Quimby followed by a Celebration of Life at 12:00 PM at the Galva City Park. The Nicklas D. Jensen Funeral Home of Holstein is in charge of the arrangements.

Judith A. Petersen was born August 28, 1940 in Sioux City, Iowa to James E. and Hannah E. (Todd) Sands. She graduated from Anthon High School in 1958.
Judy was united in marriage to Phillip H. Petersen on August 28, 1960 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Aurelia, Iowa. To this union two daughters were born, Phyllis and Tammy.
They made their home in Aurelia after their marriage then moved to Holstein in 1966, where Judy would spend the rest of her life living.
Judy began her working career at a sweet corn canning factory in Storm Lake and at the Aurelia care facility before working at Van-Top Industries for over 40 years until her retirement. She enjoyed bowling, fishing, jigsaw puzzles, traveling and spending time with family and friends.
She is survived by her daughter, Tammy (Doug) Pauley of Galva, IA; grandchildren, Tiffany (Dan) Hanson of Galva, IA, CJ (Abby) Petersen of Cherokee, IA, Amanda (Nick) Currie of Schaller, IA, Hayley (Ben) Frieden of Pewaukee, WI, Sydney (Jake) Irwin of Des Moines, IA; 10 great-grandchildren; siblings, James (Monika) Sands of Puyallup, WA, Doris (late Jay) Loftus of Kelso, WA and Carolyn (Chuck) Johnson of Mesa, AZ and many nieces and nephews.
Judy was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Phillip; daughter, Phyllis; parents-in-law and sisters, Marilyn Douglas and Donna Flewelling.
